Open Studios

As artists we spend a huge amount of time in the studio painting and I might add in my case cleaning up after myself! Even if we are represented by a Gallery we may not get much direct interaction with the public, especially those folks who are interested in our work!

As a result we miss out on the responses to the work. In my experience this is one of the most important kinds of feedback we can have.

After participating in Open Studios in Western Nevada County, CA. Accepted artists have their studios open to the public to come in and browse and purchase directly from the artist. One of the things I loved about the Open Studios was speaking to people who have come to see my work.  I loved learning how people perceive my art, their observations and comments. It was stimulating and very gratifying. Often I found people were really curious to know much more about the pieces. How were they made? Why did I do what I did? When they are comfortable I get honest heartfelt observations. There is no substitute for this kind of interaction!

The mission has been to associate the group, one craftsman at any given moment, one studio at any given moment, where we as a whole work and play. It's tied in with being associated with your group, clears up Mary.Open Studios does not separate amongst fine and art craftsmen and all craftsman are welcome to apply.
